"Questions" Video Series

In Pisay (Philippine Science HS - the school where I teach), faculty members are assigned specific committees which give us extra work other than teaching. I signed up for a new committee called the Public Relations / Creatives Committee, which is tasked to conceptualize and produce publicity/communication/promotional materials for the school. Part of this year's committee project is a video series for the PSHS's brand identity and awareness campaign: three 1-minute videos featuring current students in their natural element - being inquisitive, sarcastic, and funny.

The main purpose of the videos is to establish the school's unique characteristics which set it apart from other high schools - Pisay being the premiere science high school in the country which nurtures and develops the most brilliant and intelligent kids in the land. We focused on how our students are encouraged to practice scientific thinking, being curious, imaginative, and brave enough to ask questions.

House of Dance

I did this shoot with co-photographer Miggy Mondragon for the House of Dance - a not-so-small, private, school which teaches a wide variety of dances -- ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, hula, tap, and many more.

Pisay Event Collaterals

I like doing posters and tickets for events, maybe because of the exposure that my work gets. It's posted on billboards, walls, rooms, even passed around over the internet. Plus, you can easily get feedback (good and bad) from a lot of people--just attend the event, and there'll be a few who has something to say about your work. :) So here are some of my most recent (and favorite hehe) poster and ticket designs, which I did for a couple of shows/exhibitions in Pisay.

UP Film Thesis Covers

Back in college, I took up BA Film in UP Diliman. And for us Film majors, not only did we have the normal written research project for our thesis; we also had to write, direct, and produce a short film for our undergraduate thesis. All student films are stored in the library, gathering dust (unless your film gets picked up by a previous professor, or a curious freshman.) So what I did was I designed a DVD cover for my own film, hoping that it would catch someone's attention while browsing through the archives. Hehe self-promotion. Since I enjoyed doing mine, I offered to do the covers of my other friends' films. For free of course, haha. But seriously, I loved doing these covers, mainly because it's pretty rare for me to get the chance to work on stuff that involves both graphic design and film -- the two things that I love the most.

Student Portraits

So classes in Pisay has just started yesterday, which means back to my old 9-5 job (actually 8-2). I handled the Basic Photography elective last year (which was merged into a new Multimedia elective this year) and our first lesson was how to shoot portraits of people. I remember this first day: everyone was noisy, super eager to shoot each other's pictures with the crude set-up of my car's dashboard sun cover as reflectors hehe. Of course, it was also an opportunity for me to take pictures of the whole class -- as a means of record-keeping and memorizing their faces. This project proved to be useful, so I think I'll do this again this year with my other classes. :)

The Big Dip

The Big Dip Diner is a new restaurant co-owned by my friends (together with their other friends hehe) which serves delicious fried food and sandwiches. It turns into a nice hangout place at night wherein you and your friends can enjoy a couple of ice-cold beers, of course, while eating their tasty chicken fingers, or fish n chips hehe. Shooting the food was fun, since I was able to eat, no taste, everything after taking the pictures haha.

The Big Dip is located at 16 United Street, Bgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig (Near PC Supermarket). Contact 0917-8BIGDIP (0917-8244347) for more info.
